Event description

Employee killed when struck by falling logs

Investigation abstract

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 18, 1987, Employee #1 and a coworker were lo ading a pole trailer with timber. The coworker was loading the trailer with a Pr entice 210 log loader but stopped when Employee #1 failed to install extensions on the trailer stakes. The coworker found Employee #1 lying between the timber s tack and trailer. He had been struck by timber and was pronounced dead at the sc ene. The coworker recalled that several logs had fallen off during the operation . It was not known why Employee #1 walked under a suspended load of lumber.
