24 EMPLOYEES EXPOSED TO CARBON MONOXIDE FROM FORKLIFT TRUCK

Investigation abstract

ON SEPTEMBER 16, 1987, LARGE NUMBERS OF EMPLOYEES BEGAN COMPLAINING OF HEADACHES , NAUSEA AND DIZZINESS BETWEEN 10:30 IN THE MORNING AND 12 NOON. THE PLANT WAS E VACUATED AT 12:30 PM. AT 12:50 PM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND AMBULANCE SERVICES ARR IVED ON THE SCENE AND BEGAN TRANSPORTING A TOTAL OF 62 EMPLOYEES TO HAMPTON GENE RAL HOSPITAL. 23 WERE ADMITTED BETWEEN 1 AND 2:30 PM. CARBON MONOXIDE GAS EMITTE D FROM A FORKLIFT WAS SUSPECTED AS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
