Event description
Employee dies of asphyxia in tobacco chamber
Investigation abstract
At approximately 3:15 p.m. on December 31, 1986, Employee #1 was found inside a chamber used for conditioning tobacco at Tobacco Processors, Inc. Three coworker s checked for a pulse but could not find one. When the rescue squad arrived at a pproximately 3:30 p.m., they checked Employee #1 with a Datascope monitor defibr illator, but found no signs of life. Shortly thereafter, the medical examiner ar rived and pronounced Employee #1 dead of asphyxia.
