Employee injured in 17 ft fall from wooden plank
Investigation abstract
Employee #1 was installing a suspended ceiling from a 2 in. by 12 in. wooden pla the conduit, was the only part of the south wall where the work plank was not o ver equipment. nk that was resting on a purlin and several pipes. As he reached for some hanger wires that a coworker on the floor was handing to him, the unsecured plank tipp ed and Employee #1 fell 17 ft to the concrete floor. The employees had been able to use a Hunter scissor lift, #107, for the largest part of the job, which was in the lamps testing area at Sperry, but there was some fixed equipment along th e south wall where the 55 in. wide lift could not fit. There, the employees had to work from planks that were generally set 5 to 6 ft above the equipment. The a rea where Employee #1 fell, a section measuring 3 ft 6 in. between the pipes and
