Employee injured in fall from balcony
Investigation abstract
Employee #1, a mason-tender, was pushing a rubber-tired, construction-type wheel contractor as a mason tender for 7 weeks. barrow loaded with wet mortar on the third floor concrete balcony of a building under construction. The 4 ft 6 in. wide by 83 ft long balcony was 27 ft 8 in. ab ove the ground and unguarded on its east and north sides. As Employee #1 attempt ed to turn left into a 41 in. wide corridor and at the same time push the wheelb arrow up a 3 3/4 in. ramp. As the floor changed elevation, he lost control of th e wheelbarrow and fell from the open side of the balcony to the ground, which wa s littered with pieces of broken masonry blocks. Employee #1 suffered a fracture d skull and ribs, and multiple abrasions and lacerations. He had worked for this
