Event description

EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY FALLING LOG

Investigation abstract

On June 28, 1988, Employee #1, a logger working for Bryan Pulpwood, Inc., was tr imming the end of a sawn log in a stack of logs near a boom-type log loader. The operator of the loader swung the boom over Employee #1 with a load of pulpwood logs in the bucket on the end of the boom when the logs fell from the bucket. Em ployee #1 was thrown several feet away from the loader, was struck at the base o f the neck by the end of one of the falling logs, and was killed.
