Event description

ELECTRIC SHOCK - CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE THRU BOOM

Investigation abstract

A heavy equipment mechanic was making adjustments on a truck crane. The boom on the crane was at a 45-degree angle, which placed the boom about 1 meter from a 7 200-volt overhead power line. The wind, which was gusting at 25 to 40 kilometers per hour, apparently blew the power line into the boom. This energized the cran e and electrocuted the mechanic.
