Employee killed in fall into drained pool
Investigation abstract
At approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 28, 1988, the foreman assigned Employee #1 to sweep out the bottom of a drained swimming pool before a final inspection. A coworker had his back to the pool, cleaning the thresholds leading to the poo l lockers. He heard a noise, turned, and glimpsed Employee #1 falling into the p ool. Employee #1 struck his right temple and the right side of his face against the bottom of the pool. He lost consciousness during the ambulance ride to the h ospital and remained unconscious until his death 7 days later.
