Event description
ELECTRIC SHOCK - STATIC DISCHARGE
Investigation abstract
AN EMPLOYEE WAS UNCLOGGING AN 8-INCH PVC DUCT FROM AN ENVELOPE MACHINE. WHEN THE PIPE WAS OPENED, A STATIC ELECTRIC DISCHARGE CAME OUT OF THE PVC PIPE TO THE EM PLOYEE'S LEFT ARM. THE EMPLOYEE WAS KNOCKED TO HIS KNEES. HE DIED ABOUT 30 DAYS LATER. THE MEDICAL EXAMINER CONCLUDED THAT DEATH WAS RELATED TO OBSTRUCTED CORON ARY ARTERIES.
