EMPLOYEES KILLED AND INJURED WHEN LEAKING LP GAS EXPLODED

Investigation abstract

AT APPROXIMATELY 7:40 AM ON SEPTEMBER 24, 1985, AN EXPLOSION OCCURRED AT THE MID AS MUFFLER SHOP AT 4680 S. UNIVERSITY DRIVE IN DAVIE, FLORIDA. FOUR EMPLOYEES WE RE KILLED AND ONE INJURED. THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT COULD NOT BE DETERMIN ED, BUT IT IS BELIEVED THAT A LEAK OCCURRED OVERNIGHT, FILLING THE BUILDING WITH LP GAS. WHEN THE EMPLOYEES REPORTED FOR WORK AND TURNED ON THE EQUIPMENT SWITCH ES, THE EXPLOSION OCCURRED.
