Event description
Three employees injured in fall while installing roof joists
Investigation abstract
Employees #1 through #3 were installing long span bar joists for a section of ro of over a practice basketball court. Eight of the 96 ft long bar joists and one 96 ft long tie joist fell approximately 24 ft onto metal decking. This caused th e three employees to also fall; two sustained serious injuries and one was treat ed and released. Causal factors for this accident include the employees' failure to ensure that the columns were framed in at least two directions or their inst alling the tie joists from column to column before beginning installation of the ball joists.
