Employee amputates finger by machine part and guard bracket

Investigation abstract

At 7:50 a.m. on May 29, 2021, an employee working as a machine operator for a food manufacturer was monitoring fortune cookies being molded. The employee reached into a mold with his right ring finger to remove a deformed cookie and the employee caught his finger between a reciprocating part and a metal bracket in the machine guard. The employee partially amputated his finger and was hospitalized.
