Investigation abstract

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on June 25, 2021, an employee at an automotive manufacturing facility was setting seals into auto parts using a hammer and punch. While striking the punch, a piece of the hammer face sheared off and struck the employee's inner left arm, causing a laceration. The employee was transported to Kaiser Riverside Hospital and admitted for one day of treatment. Proper personal protective equipment to shield against hammer shards was identified as a factor that could have prevented the injury.
