Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized
Investigation abstract
An employee was working as a Custodian for a City public transportation agency. symptoms. On July 16, 2021, the employee tested positive and was hospitalized for three days. The employee was not vaccinated. The employee informed his employer the same day and was advised to call the company hotline which he did. The employer notified the employee's worksite on July 18, 2021. The employee stated that management is not enforcing the indoor face covering policy and that the COVID-19 training provided did not provide enough information for him to understand the subject matter. The employer did provide face coverings but the employee chose to use his own reusable one. The employee had access to hand washing facilities but reported he observed coworkers not washing their hands. The employee's source of exposure could not be traced. The employer provided The employee's duties were to swipe/wax floors and vacuum/clean carpets. The tools to protect employees from COVID-19. The employer did not document the COVID-19 hazards for Custodial Staff. employee worked as part of a team with 4 coworkers and they work at night. The employee stated he refused to share rides with coworkers. On July 4, 2021, the employee was off work and didn't meet with anyone. On July 5, 2021, the employee worked at the Metro East site. On July 6, 2021, the employee worked on the Woods division site and reported he encountered an unmasked coworker in the restroom (employer records do not show that the employee worked at the woods division site).
