Event description

Employee amputates arm while cleaning manure conveyor

Investigation abstract

At 11:15 a.m. on June 20, 2021, Employee #1 was cleaning the manure at the tail end of a conveyor system in the conveyor adjustment room. He had pressed the emergency stop button and reached through an access hole in the side of the conveyor to clean between the roller and the belt. The conveyor restarted, and his arm was pulled between the roller and the belt, resulting in the amputation of his right arm. The employee was hospitalized for treatment.
