Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized
Investigation abstract
An employee was working for a nationwide chain of supermarkets. She worked as a more serious, she went to a hospital. She was admitted for COVID-19 and a previously undiagnosed heart condition as well. Her employer learned of her hospitalization on August 10, 2021. It conducted an exposure assessment. Unable to determine whether the infection was work-related, the employer reported the hospitalization to the Cal/OSHA district office. The last previous case of an employee in that store infected with COVID-19 was three months earlier. The employer reported that the employee was not vaccinated and that unvaccinated employees must wear masks. Now, due to health orders, all employees must wear masks. food clerk in one of the firm's grocery stores. According to a representative in human resources, the employee came to work on August 3, 2021, with a cough. She was allowed to work, as she had asthma, and a display of asthma-related symptoms was deemed normal. The last day she worked was August 7, 2021. That same day, the employee called the firm's triage nurse and told the nurse of her worsening symptoms of COVID-19. The nurse told her to stay at home and self-isolate.
