Investigation abstract

At 4:15 p.m. on July 24, 2021, an experienced mechanic with supervisory responsibilities was verifying maintenance work on a freezer bar machine. While feeling the alignment of an air-driven stamper component that stamps the time and date on product film, the employee's finger was caught between the moving stamper and a fixed part of the machine after an assistant mechanic adjusted an air valve. The employee sustained an amputation of the tip of the middle finger on the right hand. The injury required hospitalization.
