Event description

Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized

Investigation abstract

An employee was working as a technician at a blood and organ bank. During the week of July 26 through July 31, 2021, she worked with three other technicians in the facility's apheresis department. She and the other three technicians experienced symptoms of COVID-19 starting on August 1 and going through August 3. In all, four technicians tested positive for COVID-19. The employee's symptoms grew worse. At 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, she was admitted to the hospital. The other three technicians did not experience symptoms as severe as the employee's. They recovered and returned to work on August 16 and August 17, 2021.
