Event description

Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

Investigation abstract

An employee was working as a laborer for a state's department of military affairs. He was a Trade Tech III employee. He worked in a civilian support position for a state's national guard. He performed maintenance duties on military barracks, such as disinfecting barracks for COVID-19 between occupation of the barracks by transient units. On July 28, 2021, the employee started to feel unwell. He left work early. On August 3, 2021, he drove himself to the hospital, where he tested positive for COVID-19. He was medevaced to a nearby medical school hospital, and he was hospitalized on the same day. He remained in the hospital until he died of COVID-19, at 2:30 a.m. on August 19, 2021.
