Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized
Investigation abstract
An employee was working at a general medical or surgical hospital. He worked as a phlebotomist. On approximately July 26, 2021, he had entered a patient's room to draw blood. He was not wearing respiratory protection, as there was no indication on the door that the patient was suspected to have COVID-19. The patient was coughing during the blood draw. Later, the patient tested positive for COVID-19. The employee started exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 on approximately July 29, 2021. On August 7, 2021, he was hospitalized with COVID-19.
