Event description

Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized

Investigation abstract

An employee had been working as a Travelling Nurse. Prior to being hospitalized, the employee had been caring for a psychiatric patient who was not compliant with mask use. The patient's spouse was allowed to be present during his treatment to keep him calm. The spouse had unknowingly contracted COVID-19 prior to exposing the employee. The patient also became positive for COVID-19 and was asymptomatic while being cared for by the employee. The employee was using a face covering (level 1 face mask) to care for the patient. The employee developed COVID-19 symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19. At 1:00 p.m. on July 24, 2021, the employee was hospitalized.
