Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee was working at a residential facility for people with intellectual hypoxic respiratory failure. At 12:45 a.m on September 11, 2021, he died. and/or developmental disabilities. He and his coworkers provided day-to-day living assistance to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities at their residence. He was not vaccinated. He transported a symptomatic, unvaccinated resident so that the resident could have a COVID-19 test performed. The employee continued to provide care for the resident without proper respiratory protection or physical barriers. His respiratory system was exposed to the airborne transport of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. He began to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19, such as COVID-related pneumonia and acute
