Employee amputates fingertip while cutting beef with bandsaw

Investigation abstract

At 11:40 a.m. on September 16, 2021, an employee working as a machine operator for a beef processing facility was cutting bones with a vertical bandsaw. A bone jumped causing the employee's right hand to slip forward into the 20-inch sawblade. The employee received medical treatment without hospitalization for an amputated ring fingertip.
