Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

Investigation abstract

An employee was working for a wired telecommunications carrier. He was a reviewed its pandemic plan on a weekly basis and updated it accordingly with respect to CDC information and public health data. The employer maintained a hotline for reporting COVID-19 by employees. It updated a management database for contact tracing purposes and employee notification of contact. The employer maintained a masking policy regardless of vaccination status, and it provided PPE to employees. telecommunications line installer and repair technician. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 18, 2021, and he was on sick leave. He was in and out of the hospital as his symptoms increased or waned. He was readmitted to the hospital, where he died due to COVID-19 at 4:09 p.m. on September 21, 2021. His employer reported the fatality to OSHA, in compliance with reporting guidelines. A CSHO made contact with the employer on September 23, 2021 and reviewed the employer's pandemic plan and contact tracing protocols.
