Investigation abstract

At 12:10 p.m. on August 22, 2021, an employee working as a casting assistant for a copper plant was working in the casting area of the facility. The employee was sweating profusely and reported cramping and feeling lightheaded. The employer called an ambulance. The employee has diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease and is taking medications that can lead to dehydration. The employee was hospitalized to treat acute kidney injury due to dehydration.
