Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee was working as a nursing aide, orderly, or attendant at a continuing was admitted to the hospital. She died while in the intensive care unit (ICU), at 6:51 a.m. on October 3, 2021. There were no known COVID-19 cases in the facility among staff or residents before the employee became sick. The employee was believed to wear two procedure masks while in the facility assisting residents. Residents were not required to wear face coverings in the facility, and visitors were only required to wear face coverings while in common areas of the facility. Staff members were required to self-screen for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 prior to each shift in addition to twice-weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated staff. care retirement community.
