Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee was working as a firefighter for a community fire department. At of his coworkers experienced symptoms of COVID-19 on September 5, 2021. The employer quarantined the coworker on September 6, 2021. approximately 12:00 p.m. on September 11, 2021, he and another firefighter responded to a medical call to assist EMS with a person having difficulty breathing. The employee later learned that the person had tested positive for COVID-19. Two days later, on September 13, 2021, the employee started to experience a light cough, a symptom of COVID-19. On September 13, 2021, he was placed out of work and tested for COVID-19. He received his positive test results on September 16, 2021. On September 21, 2021, he was hospitalized.
