Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee performed maintenance duties at two buildings housing skilled employees were not required to complete the questionnaire when initially reporting to work. The employees are provided with N95 respirators, but no other personal protective equipment while working inside either building. The employer did not have an effective COVID-19 Prevention Program in place, including having inadequate respiratory protection procedures. nursing and rehabilitation facilities. The employee's duties required him to have face-to-face interaction with staff within the facilities and office area. On September 3, 2021, the employee received a positive test result from COVID-19 during routine testing, at which time he reported having symptoms on that day of and the day prior. On September 17, 2021, the employee was hospitalized and on October 11, 2021, the employer was informed that the employee died on October 10, 2021, due to COVID-19. The employer reported that the screening procedure for maintenance staff entering the buildings involves taking temperatures, but
