Event description

Employee sustains finger avulsion while operating peck feed

Investigation abstract

At 11:37 a.m. on July 17, 2021, Employee #1, a standard tool set-up operator at a global aerospace, defense, and security company, was performing adjustments on a Peck Feed Drill (PL92EN-HT4). While adjusting the rapid rear advance adjuster with the tool running, the employee's left pinky finger was caught between the rapid advance rear bracket and the drill housing, resulting in an avulsion. Employee #1 was treated without hospitalization. No witnesses were present at the time of the incident.
