Two Employees with COVID-19 infection are hospitalized, one
Investigation abstract
At 9:15 a.m. on September 8, 2021, Employee #1 who had worked as a County days and must receive two negative COVID-19 tests prior to being transferred to the designated unit. All detainees must wear mask around each other, but they are not required to mask if alone in their rooms. Though the detainees have gone through the prescreening process prior to relocating to their units, the detainees have visits from family members, counselors and medical staff, which is a potential source of exposure to COVID-19. Employees are required to wear an N95 respirator while transferring COVID-19 positive detainees to other units. Employees are fit tested and provided training on the Respiratory Protection and Aerosol Transmissible Disease Programs. However, the employer did not have all required elements of an adequate Respiratory Protection or Aerosol Transmissible Probation Officer at a Juvenile Detention Facility died from COVID-19. Employee Diseases Programs in place. #1 worked in the same unit as Employee #2, another County Probation Officer, in the early part of August 2021. August 3, 2021, was the last day of work for both employees. Employee #1 received a positive test result on August 13, 2021, was hospitalized on August 15, 2021, and died on September 8, 2021. Employee #2 received a positive test on August 10, 2021, and was hospitalized from August 12, 2021, to August 15, 2021. Both employees were potentially exposed to a COVID-19 positive detainee.
