Employee Amputates Fingers When Pinched By Drive Tire

Investigation abstract

At 7:45 a.m. on October 25, 2021, an employee was replacing a drive tire while performing repair and maintenance activities on a customer's equipment. The employee's middle and ring fingers of his left hand were in the vicinity of the drive tire during the tire changing process. The employee's fingers were pinched between the lift truck drive unit and the drive tire, resulting in an amputation and requiring medical treatment without hospitalization.
