Employee sustains finger amputation while cleaning pipe
Investigation abstract
At 10:15 p.m. on June 25, 2021, Employee #1 was placing meat into bins from a silo when he attempted to clean out a pipe by hand. The line was equipped with an actuator valve that released meat if metal was detected. While cleaning out the pipe, Employee #1 inserted his right hand and his finger became caught in the valve. He sustained an amputation of his right index finger at the first knuckle. The employee was treated without hospitalization.
