Event description
Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized
Investigation abstract
Four employees were working for a company that manufactured machinery used for came back positive for COVID-19. Employee #1 notified Coworker #2 of their potential exposure. Coworker #2 instructed them to isolate and get tested. All three employees tested positive for COVID-19 causing the employer to close the shop. After finding out that the shop was being shut down due to a COVID-19 case, Coworker #3, an engineer, was tested for COVID-19 which returned positive however he remained asymptomatic. Coworker #2 began to experience symptoms on October 15, 2021 including body aches, fever, and a headache. On October 23, Employee #1 was experiencing shortness of breath and became hospitalized for treatment for seven days. Employee #1 was the only employee hospitalized for treatment. pipe manufacturing. Employee #1, a shop helper, was staying at his partner's residence where a parent had recently returned from an inpatient hospital stay. The parent was experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea so they were tested for COVID-19 out of caution. Employee #1 continued to work October 4-7, 2021, and commuted to work with Coworker #1, a shop machinist, and Coworker #2, a shop supervisor. Employee #1 began experiencing a loss of voice during this time which was not considered a symptom of COVID-19. On October 7, Employee #1 discovered that the test taken by his partner's parent
