Employee amputates tip of right ring finger while removing l

Investigation abstract

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on November 4, 2021, an employee and a coworker were tasked with removing three approximately 25-foot tall aluminum lamp posts from the parking lot while equipped with a Caterpillar TH460B and a 3-inch white vinyl strap. A coworker was operating the Caterpillar TH460B while the employee rigged up the lamp post with the 3-inch strap when the strap slipped, and the employee's finger was pinched between the concrete base and the base of the lamp post. The employee received amputation injuries to the tip of the right ring finger and was hospitalized for treatment.
