Employee is killed when crushed between tractor trailer and
Investigation abstract
At 4:45 p.m. on November 10, 2021, an employee was instructing a trainee how to CPR was performed, and the employee was air-lifted to the trauma center at UT Medical Center. The employee was killed. use the Yard Dog (truck) to connect tractor trailers and move them throughout the yard. The employee was standing on the platform on the tractor portion of a tractor trailer only to be used in the yard. The tractor has a fifth wheel hitch with a platform used as a base that holds the fifth wheel. The employee had exited the cab and had come out onto the platform as the driver was backing the trailer. Holding on with one hand to the platform, as the the driver was instructed to back up, the employee was pinned between the rear of the truck and the trailer horizontally. He was unconscious at the time the ambulance arrived.
