Event description

Employee experiences transient ischemic stroke during work

Investigation abstract

At 4:30 p.m. on September 7, 2021, an employee working for a public school district was working at High School swimming pool coaching water polo. The employee was a full-time employee of the employer. The employee was sitting on the edge of the pool verbally going through statistics with the team. As she was speaking, her voice became garbled and her arm fell to her side. The employee lost the use of the right side of her body. An ambulance was called, and she was transported to the hospital. She was hospitalized with a subsequently diagnosed transient ischemic stroke. Her illness was determined to be non-work related.
