Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

Investigation abstract

An employee had been working as a Family Nurse Practitioner and worked as needed employee had been working 12-hour shifts and last worked in the hospital ER on August 14, 2021. The employee was responsible for treating and diagnosing patients, including patients with confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19, after the patients were screened and triaged by medical staff. The employee was not working at the clinic when he tested positive for COVID-19 on August 15, 2021. The employee had not displayed any symptoms of COVID-19 while working at the clinic. The only days the employee worked at the clinic in the two weeks prior to his COVID-19 symptoms and subsequent positive test was on August 7, 2021, and August 9, 2021. The employee started experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 on August 15, 2021 and tested positive on August 15, 2021. The employee was at an urgent care clinic. The employee last worked at the clinic on August 7, hospitalized on August 20, 2021 and transferred to a regional medical center on August 29, 2021. At 8:15 p.m. on November 10, 2021, the employee died due to COVID-19. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative. 2021, and August 9, 2021. The employee did not display symptoms or complain of symptoms while working at the clinic. The employee did not have contact with coworkers who tested positive. The last coworker to test positive for COVID-19 did so a month earlier. The employee was responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with confirmed and suspected cases of COVID-19.
