Event description
Employee with COVID-19 infection dies
Investigation abstract
An employee had been working as an Instructor at a Firefighter Training Course at a national forest. The course lasted for 5 days and on the 4th day of training, the employee felt severely ill and was confirmed positive for COVID-19 the next day. Contact tracing determined that it was a non-work related exposure. However, the employee was confirmed to be a work related source for seven coworkers (all Firefighters) that were in close proximity to him on more then one occasion. The employee was hospitalized for COVID-19 at 2:00 p.m. on October 24, 2021, and was transferred to an ICU on Ocotber 27, 2021. On November 13, 2021, the employee died.
