Event description

Employee amputates finger in deboning machine

Investigation abstract

At 7:30 a.m. on December 8, 2021, an employee was placing turkey drumsticks into the rotary drum deboning machine when the drumstick in his left hand fell off of the die. The employee reached in behind the guard where the circular blade was and cut his left ring finger. The employee suffered a laceration to his left index finger that was later surgically amputated at the hospital. Hospitalization was not required.
