Event description

Employee falls while unloading tires and injures head

Investigation abstract

At 7:00 a.m. on July 13, 2021, Employee #1, employed by a tire delivery company, was unloading a shipment of tires at a retail tire shop. While standing on a stack of tires inside the trailer and passing tires to two shop employees on the ground, Employee #1 lost footing and caught a foot on a single tire placed flat on the trailer floor. Employee #1 fell out of the trailer, landing head first on the pavement. Emergency services transported Employee #1 to the hospital, where he was hospitalized for treatment of a head laceration and central cord syndrome.
