Employee is bitten by K9 dog during security checks
Investigation abstract
At 9:44 a.m. on July 19, 2021, Employee #1 was conducting security checks in the lower tier when she approached a K9 dog handler (inmate) handling a mix terrier K9 named BIG WIG in front of cell 148. The inmate offered Employee #1 a dog treat, and she extended her right arm to give the treat to the dog. While giving a second treat, the dog launched without warning and bit her mouth area. Employee #1 sustained a dog bite wound to her lower lip that required surgery. She was hospitalized for treatment.
