Event description
Employee with COVID-19 infection is hospitalized
Investigation abstract
An employee was working as a full-time radiation technician during the overnight performed, employees would wear a PAPR for respiratory protection in patient rooms. On July 14, 2021, at the end of the employee's shift he began to feel symptoms of COVID-19 and was placed in quarantine. On July 15, 2021, the employee tested positive for COVID-19 and on July 23, 2021, he was admitted into the hospital for treatment. shift in the emergency department of a hospital. The employee took X-rays of COVID-19 positive patients, persons under investigation for COVID-19, and non-COVID-19 patients. The required respiratory protection for all emergency department employees were N-95s. All rooms of the medical center had negative pressure air flow. When entering COVID-19 positive patient rooms, employee were required to wear an N-95 respirator, gloves, goggles, and gowns.
