Employee amputes finger when unjamming trailer load chute

Investigation abstract

At 11:00 a.m. on December 6. 2021, an employee was helping a coworker who was attempting to unjam a Watkins Aircraft Supports Products Chute while setting up loading equipment at a truck trailer. The coworker had the employee help push the chute when he caught his left hand in the chute flap. The employee amputated his index finger, requiring medical treatment without hospitalization.
