EMPLOYEE FRACTURES VERTEBRA WHEN STRUCK BY WHEEL LOADER

Investigation abstract

At 8:30 a.m. on January 18, 2022, an employee was assigned to pick up trash from compost heaps in a designated area in the yard. Shortly after coming back from a 10 minute break, the employee resumed picking up trash when a front wheel load er backed into him and knocked him into the heap. The coworker driving the front wheel loader did not see the employee in the side mirrors or in the rear camera . The coworker realized he hit the employee when he moved the front wheel loader forward and saw him in the heap. The employee was hospitalized to treat fractur ed ribs and vertebra.
