Employee is killed by gunshot during confrontation with susp
Investigation abstract
At 2:50 p.m. on July 29, 2024, Employee #1 was performing work duties at a measures to prevent future incidents of workplace violence. retail establishment. While working, Employee #1 observed a suspect stealing merchandise and confronted the suspect. The suspect proceeded outside, and Employee #1 followed but stopped at the front doorway of the establishment. The suspect then drew a firearm and discharged the weapon towards Employee #1. The gunshot struck Employee #1, causing a gunshot wound. Employee #1 was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other employees were injured. The incident was reported to authorities, and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The employer is reviewing its security protocols and safety
