Employee dies, suspects heat illness while moving flooring m
Investigation abstract
At 2:53 p.m. on September 5, 2024, an employee was working alone, moving boxes of vinyl plank flooring from a pallet on the sidewalk to a nearby maintenance storage room in the basement. The employee was later found unresponsive by a worker from a separate building and a tenant, who called 911. Upon discovery, the tenant believed the employee to be dead. The police department, paramedics, and medical examiner responded to the scene. The medical examiner noted that the heat index at the time was approximately 100�F and suspected that heat illness may have been a contributing factor. The employer was notified and also responded to the scene. The employee was pronounced dead at the scene.
