Event description

Employee burned by explosion and fire

Investigation abstract

At approximately 2:50 p.m. on November 17, 1988, an explosion and fire occurred in the vicinity of the polystyrene densifier, a plastic conversion machine. Empl oyee #1 was burned over 80 percent of his body, including his lungs, and his leg was fractured. Employee #1 was transported to Wellborn Hospital in Evansville, IN, and by helicopter to Humana Hospital in Louisville, KY.
