Employee's finger amputated by table saw blade
Investigation abstract
Employee #1, a new employee, and a coworker were cutting wood on a table saw. Em ployee #1 was cross cutting a 2 by 4 by 2 ft long board without using the miter gauge and without installing the blade guard. With one hand on each side of the saw blade, Employee #1 proceeded to push the 2 by 4 into the blade. A kick back occurred and his fingers struck the saw blade. Employee #1 sustained the amputat ion of a finger.
