EMPLOYEE #1 WAS POSITIONED UNDER THE BOOM OF A MODEL 597C AMERICAN CRANE, SERIAL NUMBER GS16770, WHILE HE WAS DISMANTLING THE BOOM. THE BOOM WAS NOT BLOCKED OR BRACED. WHEN HE REMOVED THE LAST SECTION PIN, THE BOOM FELL ON HIM, CAUSING CRUS HING INJURIES TO HIS LEG, ARM AND SHOULDER.
