Employee's head lacerated when struck by falling wood
Investigation abstract
Employee #1 was standing 25 ft from a 16 ft dump truck wearing a hard hat. He wa s ensuring that no one entered the area in which workers were throwing 1 in. by 3 in. by 12 ft long pieces of oak flooring out of fourth-floor windows and into the truck. According to Employee #1, when he bent down to tie his shoe a 6 ft pi ece of wood bounced off the dump truck and hit him on the side of his head, caus ing a laceration. Employee #1 was transported to Sinai Hospital, where he receiv ed 17 stiches.
